If you saw our last post, we introduced our savory crumpet recipe inspired by Pike Place Market’s, “The Crumpet Shop”. Today we are sharing our sweet version to satisfy your sweet tooth.
We did 2 versions of our crumpets because we wanted one to pair with savory toppings and one to pair with sweet toppings. The only difference between the two is the amount of salt we added. We didn’t want the salt to overpower the sweet ingredients.
I love savory food, but Chef K has more of a sweet tooth. That is why he had a lot of input on the combinations for our sweet toppings.
We started with simple pairings like maple almond butter and banana, but this was not enough for Chef K. After rummaging through his pantry, we added hemp seeds, pecans, cocoa nibs, and shredded coconut. Besides the fruit, all the other ingredients were actually things that Chef K and I had in our kitchen.
Don’t be afraid to use combinations that you are used to like peanut butter and apples. Get creative with what you have!
