Sauteing nuts in a savory dish is a foriegn concept to me. When I saw this combination, I knew we had to try our own version.
We kept this recipe fairly simple, it’s mostly about timing. Have all the ingredients prepared before you start any sauteing so they’re ready to add into the pan. For example, you’ll want to brown the walnuts just enough to boost their flavor, but don’t burn them!
Similarly, with sauteing the broccoli, don’t overcook them and lose that bright green. Avoid letting them become mushy dark green!
If you can’t find Chinese broccoli at your local store, there are 2 easy substitutes: broccolini or broccoli rabe (yes, this is pronounced “broccoli rob”). Any of these vegetables will give a similar and delicious result. It’s a thin broccoli-type dish.
Keep your walnuts on your broccoli, not the floor,
