Karaage is a Japanese style of fried chicken. It’s traditionally marinated in tamari, mirin, ginger, and garlic. However, I usually order karaage when I go out and eat miso ramen, so I thought it might be interesting to incorporate those miso flavors into the marinade.
This was my first time frying chicken in my air fryer and I was really happy with how the chicken turned out. The outside was nice and crispy, but the inside stayed moist and juicy.
Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to do multiple batches. I ended up doing 5 batches in order to avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Crowding will keep the chicken from getting crispy.
