Seattle has such an amazing food scene that Chef K and I can’t help but be inspired by the food we find here in our hometown. Today we draw inspiration from our favorite Thai restaurant, Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen. Isarn focuses on traditional Northern Thai dishes, which differs from the standard phad thai that you usually see.
Whenever we go to Isarn, we have to get the fried chicken wings. I have been wanting to make these wings for awhile, but Chef K didn’t want us to fry with a ton of oil. Luckily for me, I got an air fryer for Christmas! This was finally my chance to try this recipe.
These wings are packed with so much flavor and I love the crispy fried lemongrass that Isarn puts on top. When I tried this recipe the first time, I used fresh lemongrass, but I couldn’t get enough of the lemongrass flavor that I wanted.
After that, I tried shredded lemongrass that comes frozen and that worked out PERFECT. There aren’t many ingredients in this recipe because the lemongrass, basil, and lemon give these wings so much depth already. We really didn’t want to over complicate this recipe.

-
Spray chicken with vegetable oil and place in a single layer in air fryer basket. Air fry for 15 mins at 400 degrees F.
-
Transfer crisp chicken onto a plate lined with a paper towel to absorb excess oil.

Squeeze lemon juice over chicken.
-
Toss a few basil leaves in your air fryer and fry for 3 mins at 370 degrees F. These make for a great garnish when you serve your wings.
