Day at the Grill Part 3. The grand finale of our day at the grill, but certainly not the last day we will use a grill. The very day grills came into my life, I knew they were here to stay.
Although we aren’t missing grills, we were missing something in the Cringey Kitchen Catalog. And that something was desserts.
As a food blog we simply could not avoid desserts any longer. Desserts are some of the most beautiful looking, best tasting, and most glorious dispensers of cringe that come from the kitchen. They can often be extremely difficult and easy to mess up.For our first Cringey Kitchen dessert, we decided to try something simple. Peaches and cream.
Plus we have a grill, so we might as well grill it, hence grilled peaches and cream. Take some grilled peaches, throw them on a plate. Take some cream and throw it on the peaches. Done.
Alas, it’s not quite that easy. We aren’t prime peach pickers and we picked some completely un-ripe peaches. In our defense, it is difficult to buy peaches the day of cooking and have them already be soft.Be sure to get peaches that are right on the cusp of squishiness (not bruised, bruised doesn’t equal ripe!). A hard peach will ruin the fun of every bite. Might as well use apples at that point.
For us, it is the struggle that makes these peaches so delicious. Even if they are firm and feel like biting into a rubber ball, the grilling brings out the flavor, and the creme complements it.
