We’ve reached mid-autumn and since it’s cold out now, smoothies are officially out of style.
Wait, that’s not right at all. We can’t let smoothies go out of style! Let’s make them “hip” for autumn and add a classic autumn twist ~ tea.
For this recipe we used a French Vanilla Earl Grey tea, but you can totally use your own favorite tea type (caffeinated or otherwise). We tried this recipe with a simple oolong tea as well and it was still very good. That being said, we found the vanilla and black tea flavors paired better with fruit.
Fruit flavors work surprisingly well with the tea flavor. We have tried to design this recipe so neither flavors overpower the other. As an added bonus, you get a bit of greens in this smoothie and you will hardly taste them!
We found it’s best to blend the dates, cashews, and warm tea together first, before adding the other ingredients. This ensures the dates and cashews don’t leave large chunks. Adding the cold ingredients causes the dates to harden.
