Set oven to 350 F. Prepare either a loaf pan with parchment paper or a dozen muffin tin with liners.
Mix all batter ingredients together in a large bowl.
Bake for 45-50 minutes for a loaf (or 18-20 minutes for muffins) or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Orange Glaze (optional)
If dates aren't soft, soak in warm water for 5 minutes.
Place all glaze ingredients, except the coconut cream, a high speed blender. Blend until smooth and no chunks of dates remain. Scrape down the sides with a spatula as needed to incorporate all ingredients.
Add the coconut cream and blend just enough to thoroughly combine.
Once Anise bread (or muffins) has cooled, add the glaze as desired.
