Mixed Berry Smoothie

We had a lot of fruit to go with our pancakes, so we decided to use some for smoothies! Chef K is a huge fan of making smoothies for breakfast. This recipe is literally just what we had available, which is generally how Chef K makes his smoothies anyways.

We had a variety of berries, but Chef K likes to always add something green. This time we went with avocado to get his green in and get some extra creaminess into our smoothie.

To really make this smoothie a balanced healthy breakfast item, we added some hemp hearts. This added some protein, as well as omega 3 and omega 6. My mom surprised me the last time I was at her house because she has been including hemp hearts in her daily oatmeal. I recommend trying it in your oatmeal or muffins!

Of course if you are making pancakes to go with your smoothie, your smoothie needs some maple syrup in it! It really ties the two recipes together.

Mixed Berry Smoothie

Prep Time 5 minutes
Servings 2 people

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 avocado
  • ¼ cup hemp seed
  • 1 cup cashew milk
  • ¼ cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Toss all ingredients into blender and blend until you get the consistency you want. All done!
