The roles have reversed this week in Cringey Kitchen! This recipe is brought to you by the mastermind Chef K. This smoothie is both refreshing, and easy to make, so we hope you enjoy it.
We started by picking the best strawberries straight out of the field. A perk of being in Washington is that fresh produce is not that far. We decided to get in touch with our inner farmer and pick our own strawberries. Little did we know…we actually knew nothing about how to pick the best strawberries. With the help of our fellow strawberry pickers, we went in the search of the best dark red berries with the most even hue. There were 5 different kinds of strawberries to pick from and we wanted to get a little of each. A little ended up being 10 pounds between the two of us. We are going to be having smoothies for a while but the great thing is that they are easy to freeze and you can pull them out for smoothies whenever you want. What’s important when freezing strawberries is that you line them all up, and spread them out on a big tray first. Kinda like strawberry soldiers. Then flash freeze them. This way they don’t freeze into a giant block of strawberry. The great thing about smoothies is you can add all sorts of fruits or veggies. We kept this one simple with the classic strawberry and banana combo, but feel free to substitute one of the cups of strawberries with some veggies and make this your own!
Keep your strawberries in the food, not the fields,
